10 Meter Activities
Over 35 years ago an organization was formed to help amateur radio enthusiasts enjoy the 10 meter band more. This organization was called the Ten-Ten (10X) International Net. To become a member a person (or club) must talk to 10 members of the 10X organization and collect their callsigns, names, location, and 10X numbers. Send this information along with $10 dues to TenTen International and you get a 10X number of your own. Numbers are issued for life. Members of the 10X organization exchange numbers on the air, and acertificate is issued for collecting 100 numbers, with bars issued to go on the certificate for each 100 numbers collected after that. At 500 you can get a VP number and then start collecting those as well.
There are also chapters afflicated with the 10X organization. These individual chapters have numbers of their own, specials, certificates, etc. Joining these organizations gives people a way of meeting on the air and having fun. Amateur radio operators who enjoy being a part of several 10X clubs and exchanging numbers, are often called "paperchasers", because the ultimate goal is to get awards and certificates.
